Cole Hamels hit his first bump in the spring road this afternoon, struggling in his outing against the Houston Astros.
Hamels entered the outing with a 1.80 ERA after three outstanding outings this spring. But in just 3.2 innings today, he surrendered five runs on seven hits, one walk, three home runs and four strikeouts. His spring ERA jumped to 4.61.
The Phillies rallied at the plate though, grinding out a 7-6 victory. Shane Victorino, Ryan Howard, Raul Ibanez and Josh Barfield all had RBI, while Victorino, Howard and John Mayberry doubled.
The winning run came in the top of the ninth when Michael Martinez scored on Fernando Rodriguez wild pitch.
