The Phillies traveled to Fort Meyes today and shut-out the Boston Red Sox, 2-0. It was a match-up that many are predicting to compete for the 2011 World Series.
Cole Hamels continued his strong start, tossing four shut-out innings, surrendering one hit and one walk while fanning three. Hamels has now faced New York and Boston this spring, on the road, without allowing a run.
Jeff Larish knocked in the game's only runs in the second inning, doubling home Ben Francisco and John Mayberry Jr.
Fransico's strong spring continued as he went 2-for-3 and is now batting .375.
Domonic Brown, Francisco's competitor for right field, went 0-for-3 with a strikeout and walk. He's now 0-for-15 with nine strikeouts. As more games pass, it appears more and more likely that Brown will begin the season in Triple-A.
Joe Blanton will start tomorrow in Bradenton against Pittsburgh.
